Connect an AI assistant

Let ChatGPT or Claude look up your dogs, routes and walk history

Your Dogventure connection link

Copy this link and paste it into your assistant's connector settings. You'll sign in with your Dogventure account, so the assistant only ever sees your own dogs, saved routes and walk history.

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT's advanced connector settings and turn on Developer mode. Read the risk notice ChatGPT shows there. If you don't see the option, ask a ChatGPT admin to enable it.
  2. Open the new connector dialog.
  3. Enter Dogventure Walks as the name and paste the connection link above into the URL field.
  4. Review the details, check "I understand and want to continue" (ChatGPT shows this for every custom connector), then click Create.
  5. Turn Dogventure Walks on from the chat composer, then ask something like "what walks did I finish this week?"

Claude

  1. Open the prefilled Claude connector dialog.
  2. Review the name and link, then click Add.
  3. If the prefilled form doesn't open, go to Claude's Connectors page, choose "Add custom connector", name it Dogventure Walks and paste the connection link above.
  4. Enable the connector from the chat composer, then ask Claude about your walks.

Claude Code

Run this once in a terminal — that's the whole setup.

  1. Start Claude Code and run /mcp to confirm Dogventure is connected, and to sign in when prompted.
  2. Ask Claude Code to plan or review a walk.

Other AI assistants

  1. Open the assistant's MCP server or custom connector settings.
  2. Create a new remote MCP server connection.
  3. Name it Dogventure Walks and paste the connection link above.
  4. Finish the sign-in or authorization prompt with your Dogventure account.
  5. Enable the connection, then ask the assistant to use Dogventure.

Refresh after Dogventure updates

Assistants remember what Dogventure could do when they first connected. When we ship new features, refresh the connection:

  • ChatGPT — open Plugins, select Dogventure Walks, scroll to Information and click Refresh. ChatGPT can't change an existing connector's link, so if the link above changed, delete the connector and add it again. Then start a new chat.
  • Claude — open Connectors, select Dogventure Walks and refresh its tools. Claude can't change an existing connector's link either, so remove and re-add it if the link changed.
  • Claude Code — start a new session; it picks up the latest tools. If the link changed, run claude mcp remove dogventure-walks and run the install command again.
  • Other assistants — open the connection's settings, refresh or reconnect it, paste the latest link if it changed, then start a new chat.
